Leather Color and Appearance

Leather is a beautifully natural, handcrafted material, which inherently exhibits variations in appearance such as color and texture. These nuances are a cherished hallmark of its authenticity.

Should your customer express concern regarding these inherent variations, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at sales@colonialbronze.com. We’d be delighted to provide a swatch sample of the specific leather style your client is interested in reviewing.

At The Tanner’s Craft, we take pride in collaborating with some of the most esteemed leather artisans, ensuring our hardware exudes timeless elegance and quality.

Leather Care

Leather, prized for its enduring quality, evolves gracefully with time and use, often deepening in character as it ages. Cleaning leather should be approached with care, as it’s essential to maintain its natural oils and integrity. Opt for a suitable leather cleaner that enhances the hide’s richness without stripping away its inherent oils. Prior to full application, conduct a spot test in an inconspicuous area to confirm compatibility with your specific leather type. Please apply the cleaner to a soft cloth, never apply any liquid directly on your hardware.  Then carefully softly work the cleaner into the leather,  These measures ensure that your cherished leather items remain as timeless as they are durable.is a beautifully natural, handcrafted material, which inherently exhibits variations in appearance such as color and texture. Metal Finish Care

To properly care for your product’s metal finish that is protected by Finishes for Life protective coat, please use a non-abrasive, damp cloth. Liquid dishwashing soap can be used if needed.  Please apply the soap to the cloth, never apply any liquid directly on your hardware.

Do not use abrasive cleansers or any metal-polishing compounds (Flitz®, Brasso®, etc.)—they will scratch the protective coating and damage its clarity,

To refresh the appearance of your Colonial Bronze products crafted in a finish that is unlacquered1 we suggest using a soft, damp cloth for regular cleaning. If necessary, a mild liquid dishwashing soap can be applied. For enhancing the shine of these living finishes, we recommend using a non-abrasive polish such as Bar Keepers Friend® cleanser.  Never apply a liquid directly on your hardware.  Avoid using metal polishing compounds such as Flitz® or Brasso®, as they may scratch the hand-worked surface.

  1. Colonial Bronze’s unlacquered finishes are: Unlacquered Polished Brass (3A), Unlacquered Satin Brass (4A), Polished Nickel (14), Satin Nickel (15), Polished Chrome (26), and Satin Chrome (26D).
